F for Fugitive

F for Fugitive

All were there , but he was missing his father.

The Priest reads out the mantras and the two encircle the holy fire and get tied in the holy knot.

Shambhu's hand moves up to bestow his blessings on the duo, hiding behind the bamboo trees covering his face. Let them never know that he served in jail, they would never understand, he thought.

After all, they say - he was a fugitive, tears tickled from his eyes.

E for Ex.....

E for Ex

Raj was enjoying the dance with Julie, shaking his hips in sync with the dazzling dusky damsel, head resting on head, and shoulders clasping each other.

The alcohol was slowly taking control over his senses and he was feeling elated and at the top of the world with his new found - girlfriend .

"To hell with the breakup, there would be thousands like Kelly, his ex", the feel crossed his subconscious mind.

"Anand, that is Raj , my ex, dancing with that girl" - a faint voice struck his from the corner  of the hall- he seems to have heard Kelly telling somebody.

He turned - a sweet pain in the heart, all seemed to stop....perhaps the memories can never be  ex... he thought and tears blurred his eyes.

C for Cross Roads

C for Cross roads - A Five Sentence Fiction

"The opening in US is a life time opportunity & I can't miss it "- I reaffirmed myself.

Ecstatically I rushed to Radha's house and narrated the whole day in a go.

"So when do you leave ?" She asked, her eyes wet , lips trying to smile, and

unsuccessfully trying to hide her father's medical report .

Without waiting for my answer she continued - "My presence will hold you

from moving towards your dream so forget me and move ahead”.

I stood there cramped - life had put me at crossroads!

Beauty - A five sentence Fiction

Dorothy, the dark plum lady struggled to change her father in-law’s clothes, suffering from dementia. It was tough, but she felt contended and preferred doing all this herself, though her husband had employed Nancy, the gorgeous damsel for all his nursing needs.
Tring Tring ! - Nancy opened the door and burbled “Your father is really tough to take care of bla blabla…”, adjusting her red dress.
His eyes struck on the beauty, her complains as if falling on his ears from far, when suddenly the charm got broken by the hoarse call from the corner of the room– “Pls help me hold him so that I change the wet pants”.

Beauty -  intrinsic is more important and real, he sighed and moved towards her.

A for Anger

A for Anger

#AtoZChallenge 2020 Blogging from A to Z Challenge letter A

He had banged the door and gone out thumping his foot on the ground and married Alisha.

"Alisha, after all she was not from the same religion, and my old traditionally rooted parents never understood us, the new generation", he thought.

"Why has now they called us again, they would only frown on us" he gulped.

The door opened - Radha - there she was standing, tears ready to run down from the corner of her eyes - Aarti thali in her hand.

"Mother never gets angry from her child" - she could only mumble.

The Moonless Night - A five sentence Fiction.

This post is a part of Write Over the Weekend, an initiative for Indian Bloggers by BlogAdda.

The Moonless Night - A five sentence Fiction.

There towards the end of the marriage party lawn Kavya stood in glistening blood red surrounded by friends, dancing, laughing , hugging and chanting, all so innocent yet enticing.

Giggling from there she turned and ran towards the stairs for our eyes to meet leaving me with a pleasant ache and follow her to the dark terrace despite the fact that I had left her with the broken heart at the airport, and moved to US to pursue my MBA three years back and never tried to know about her further.

The sky glittered with the uncountable stars in the dark moonless night and so did the thumps in the heart as I stretched my hand and switched on the light - thud - oh! my heart sank and I shouted as I saw her jumping from across the terrace.

I ran towards her screaming incoherently stating what I saw  to the crowd that had gathered from the party lawn by now.

Kavya! , but she died three years ago exactly the way you narrated, her friend Archana said from the back.

The Saviour

Radhika’s sixth sense warned - something was going to be wrong and she followed Tanu in a taxi to the party area, managing a seat in the corner and watching her gorgeous granddaughter ram the dance floor in her red mini and the white t-shirt hanging from her bare shoulder. With all eyes glued to her glowing bare skin, Jack took a chance, matching the steps and inching closer he pressed lips and thrust his hand in her t-shirt.

Tanu screamed, tried to get herself free, but could only add to the excitement and enjoyment of the party until Radhika’s slap stunned the bewildered youths.

“I am sorry, I spoiled your party”, she said to Tanu, pulling her off from Jack and putting the shawl around her to cover the bare shoulder.

Crying hysterically, Tanu could only spell – “No Dadi” and she clung to Radhika, dumping herself in her celestial embrace.

The Red Diary

In the desperate search for the passport, I pull the clothes off the wardrobe and there a red diary falls on the ground.

With trembling hand & a thumping heart I open the middle page, separated by a pen, of this constant companion of Maya which had stayed in the most secured places with her till now.

“One night has given me treasures of my life and can never be forgotten. My presence though will hold you from moving towards your dream so forget me and move ahead” -it read.

Tears come out and with a deep sigh I ask myself –“How?”
